Christchurch International Airport

Arrival in style

At the heart of the renovation of Christchurch International Airport, we were asked to design the space from the cabin to the arrival gate as a single experience. It was a request to make Christchurch a world-class airport that would surprise travelers. First, we began to develop the design based on the observation that passengers pass through a number of "points" as they move around the airport. Each of these points offers a deep and haunting experience through the senses, providing a chance to introduce you to the South Island.

So, from the moment travelers landed on the boarding bridge from the plane, we thought of a design that would catch their eyes with a large photo panel. In the photo, as you pass in front of it, you can feel the sounds and aromas reminiscent of the area being photographed.

During the trip that stimulates the five senses, we have prepared a fountain facility where you can taste the pure groundwater of the dug well and a point where you can touch natural materials. While waiting for their turn at customs, they created the largest plasma wall in Australasia that delights and captivates travelers with spectacular views of the South Island.

I was really absorbed in this project. We used all of our imagination and creativity to create a design that would make travelers feel like they left the airport feeling excited.
