The greatest rivalries don’t divide us. They bind us. For more than a century, the All Blacks and Springboks have shared one of the greatest rivalries in world sport. Two teams. Two nations. Drawn together by an uncompromising pursuit of excellence.
The Rivalry Trophy celebrates more than victory. It honours the history, respect and connection created by a rivalry that continually brings these two nations together.
Mission
To create a trophy unlike anything previously seen in rugby. One that captures the unique relationship between New Zealand and South Africa, and expresses how competition can create connection.
Solution
A sculptural trophy built around one simple idea:
the greatest rivalries don’t divide us. They bind us.
Two blades of grass, representing two nations, come together to create a single trophy.
Each element tells part of the story, from the grass beneath our feet to the cultures,
people and places that have shaped the rivalry.
